ScreenShotKit is a web-based editor at screenshotkit.xyz that turns your app screenshots into App Store and Google Play listing images, together with the ScreenShotKit Capture browser extension that captures screenshots of your app preview and sends them into the editor. This policy covers both the website and the extension, and explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
What we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Clerk (our authentication provider), it handles the sign-in flow and provides us with your name and email address, which we store to identify your account. We do not store your credentials or passwords.
Content you create
We store the projects you save: the screenshots and images you upload, the headlines and text you write, and your layout, theme, and device-frame settings. Screenshots are uploaded to our backend only when they are part of a project you save in the editor.
AI-generated copy
If you use the AI copy feature, the selected screenshot is sent to OpenRouter, which routes it to an AI model (Anthropic's Claude) to suggest a headline and subheadline. Screenshots are only sent when you explicitly trigger this feature.
Usage data
We do not currently use third-party analytics or advertising trackers on the website or in the extension. If that changes, this policy will be updated first.
The browser extension
The ScreenShotKit Capture extension is designed so that nothing leaves your browser unless you send it:
- Screenshots are captured only when you click the Capture button in the popup. The extension never captures in the background.
- Captured screenshots (up to 10) are held in the extension's session storage until you send or clear them. Your last crop selection per site is kept in the extension's local storage so repeat captures stay aligned.
- Screenshots leave your browser only when you click “Send to ScreenShotKit”, which hands them to the import page at screenshotkit.xyz. From there they are stored on our backend only if you save them in a project.
- The extension contains no remote code, no analytics, and transmits nothing to us on its own.
We do not sell or transfer extension data to third parties, use it for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose (capturing screenshots for the ScreenShotKit editor), or use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
How we use your information
We use your information only to operate ScreenShotKit:
- to authenticate your account and keep it secure
- to save, load, and export the screenshot projects you create
- to generate headline suggestions when you use the AI copy feature
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for advertising.
Third-party services
ScreenShotKit relies on a small number of providers to operate:
- Clerk — authentication. Clerk Privacy Policy
- Convex — backend database and file storage where your account data, projects, and uploaded screenshots are stored. Convex Privacy Policy
- OpenRouter / Anthropic — AI copy suggestions. OpenRouter Privacy Policy · Anthropic Privacy Policy
Each provider processes data under its own terms. We share only what is necessary for the specific function.
Data retention and deletion
Your projects and uploaded screenshots are retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual projects from your dashboard at any time, which removes them and their screenshots from our systems. To delete your account and all associated data, email us at jainanuamber@gmail.com and we will process the request promptly.
Data held by our third-party providers is subject to their own retention policies.
Children's privacy
ScreenShotKit is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with their information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. For any such request, email jainanuamber@gmail.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of ScreenShotKit after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
